There are a few websites, projects, and resources that I check on now and again, to get me out of the old Self and into a new Self. For example, www.TheDreamMovie.com is inspiring. It was sent to me by a guy, who said it was a bit of a “chick flick,” but he thought it was also empowering. The video was produced by Stacey Mayo, a life coach. Stacey, also known as “The Dream Queen,” was the 2005 Georgia Author of the Year, Best Self-Help Book, for I Can’t Believe I Get Paid to Do This. She is a Master Certified Coach and has been in that business for 20+ years (www.BalancedLiving.com).
For humor, females might enjoy www.UglyDress.com, especially if you have often been a bridesmaid!
For inspiration, I go to Brad Pitt’s project to help restore New Orleans. The site, http://makeitrightnola.org, describes rebuilding efforts in the Lower 9th Ward. He has brought several architects on board to help redesign homes to better withstand future storms. For those of you wishing to donate, he has created an interesting opportunity whereby you can sign up to donate a water heater, a door, or any other item needed to build a house. Price tags are attached so you can donate to the extent you would like. The project is called The Pink Project. They have created an art-like installation of several pink fabric houses to bring attention to their cause. “Like a tangram puzzle, the components of each house lay haphazard at the installation’s commencement. It is only through monetary donations that these pink placeholders will become reassembled, registering the effects of a collective consciousness, ultimately enabling the construction of 150 real homes.”
Because I met the founders, I am always interested in Balanced Rock, a foundation for inspired learning (www.balancedrockfoundation.org), providing opportunities for mindful living and community involvement through educational programs and wilderness journeys. Although they focus on Yosemite, they have also taken groups to Tibet and other areas, I believe.
