One of the best things I have done for myself lately was to read A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose by Eckhart Tolle, and to watch interviews with him on Oprah’s web site. Although some questioned whether Elkhart’s teachings conflicted with Christianity, I did not find that to be the case for me, personally.

Eckhart’s book is truly enlightened in its discussion of the ego and the role it plays in the world, our ‘pain-bodies’–the pain we carry within ourselves–and its influence in the world, finding who we truly our within humanity, finding inner peace, and awakening to your true Self. Here I capitalize Self, because that is YOU!

Oprah did an interview series with Eckhart that is still available on her web site (www.oprah.com). Each of the 10 chapters is covered by a 90-minute interview between Echart, Oprah, and call-in viewers. It was really enlightening for me, and Eckhart’s voice is soothing, so it almost felt meditation. I encourage you to listen to each of the 10 interviews, even if you do not have time to read the book. Each chapter covers one topic.

When I was going through an earlier hard time, I was also encourage to read The Power of Now, also by Eckhart. He had so much to say that it took me quite a while to read that book. Sometimes I could only absorb a paragraph! On the other hand, maybe it was just my mood at the time

I encourage you to watch the interviews on Oprah, to read his book, and to venture into the earlier Power of Now book. They truly can give you a new perspective on life.
