About JoNel
Hi. I am JoNel and this is my site! I have gone through so many changes in life that I cannot begin to describe them all!! But I can surely relate!!
Since I found that going through changes can be hard, lonely, a bit depressing, confusing, and attached to lots of other feelings, I decided to write a book to help people go through changes. It’s just a cute, colorful 75-page book called ChangeArtist: Surviving Change that is available on this site. I will also describe each section in more detail. It is a compendium of lots of what I read in various books while I went through changes—in the book, I combined lots of thoughts and advice into one short and sweet book, as a reminder and hopefully to add levity to the situation.
Although lots of changes are about loss of one thing or another, even a positive change, such as winning the lottery, can upset one’s life. I know this from reading—not from experience!! Lots of people who win the lottery are later sad they won it!! (I don’t think I would be that person, though :)!)
The more I watched and participated in change, the more I saw a need for a site like this, so now we are launching www.ChangeArtist.net, a site that will grow over time. In the meantime, I appreciate your visits to the site, your feedback, and your patience while we grow.
But, back to who I am: I am a mid-life female, trained in business, a former business professor and currently a consultant, writer, and artist. I live in Northern California, and am enjoying our beautiful landscape here. I believe in the innate goodness of people, the power of knowledge, and the power of sharing experiences with each other. Although I am introverted, I love people, and find others’ support to be so psychically healing.
I also believe in beauty and the effects of our surroundings on our physical and mental well-being and happiness. I studied design at the graduate level, and try to make things beautiful and improve people’s experiences through the types of stationary I use, the stamps I affix to those letters, the way meals are presented, the way I decorate, etc. I’ll write more about that later! It does help!!
Also, as a former business and marketing professor, I may add my business spin to what I write, as that is the lense I view things through. Plus, business principles are very applicable to life!!! You will see my Strategic, and my Marketing+Design perspective, on my business web site www.oasisconsultingllc.com.
I read a lot, and I think a lot, so this web site gives me a chance to share the experiences I have had (and for you to share also), writings resulting from my studies of change, articles written by others that may be helpful, and links to resources that might help you go through changes. Just remember—you are not alone!!
Beyond that, I don’t know what to tell you, but as we evolve, you will get a better sense of who I am through what I write. Feel free to ask questions via the Contact link.
