There are strategic planning tools for understanding options. Here I have rephrased them and reworked them so they are understandable, and so they apply to us as individuals.
Market Your Self
Not only are you trying to ratchet up your performance, but you are also trying to ratchet up communication about what you have to offer.
Do What You Do, but Do It Better
One strategy available to businesses is called Market Penetration. It means serving current markets with current products, but doing it better than you did before, and doing it better than your competitors. The same option applies to individuals. Find what works and exploit it. Improve performance, consistently ratcheting up your standards.
Develop New Skills
Another strategy for the future is to develop new skills to serve your current market (also called a product development strategy). As an individual, this might include adding a dimension to your home life that was not present before, adding a new role to your current committee or club functions, or adding a new skill for performing the job you currently have.
