Think of Acronyms
I love creating acronyms that humor me, guide me, remind me, or give me a different perspective.  The latest at my house is “OGRE: The Over-thinker’s Guide to Rethinking Everything!”  OGRE reminds me not to get caught up in over-thinking, but rather to be decisive and act.

Keep Moving
I have heard from many people about the importance of motion.  Motion creates energy. If depressed, physical activity helps greatly by creating a positive chemical change in your body.  For instance, at parties, aren’t we attracted to the social butterflies more than to the wallflowers?   More metaphors!

The same holds true in business.  We stay away from restaurants that have no customers; we invest in stocks of businesses that show action; we like to mingle with those we perceive as “winners,” or at least who appear to be interesting.  If you are feeling stagnant professionally, or you have undergone change, you will be a more interesting job candidate if you are engaged in activities and show vitality.  A gas station owner told me that when business was slow, he would service his own car at his station’s island.  His activity attracted notice and then customers.
