Change is scary. Sometimes we must slowly move from today’s reality to tomorrow. As with products, sometimes “trial” is a great idea. Not always possible, but if we can try something on, it reduces our risks when we make the actual decision to adopt a new behavior, a new job or a new life.
Learn from Experiences
Analyzing experiences and finding their “nuggets,” or the meat of their nuts, brings richness to our futures, as well as wisdom. Some people say “Life is too short for being . . .” (unhappy, for example). A friend says “Life is too long for being . . . “ (unhappy). Note where you thrive and where you wither. Write them down and attend to that information.
Try New Behaviors or Mingle with New People
If our old behaviors are no longer effective, perhaps it is time to try new behaviors. Perhaps you have been playing the victim or perhaps you have been on a power trip which has turned people off. Try a fresh approach if your current actions are not successful. Take a class, temporarily color your hair, or work at an internship in an area in which you are weak.
Meeting new people and talking about new topics can change our perspective and give us alternative viewpoints. Joining a club of others with similar interests can feel great and networking can be fun!
