Okay, I have to say this. I do NOT get to go to the Caribbean this summer, or probably not any other summer!! But, for those of you who need a change of scenery, and can get away (and afford it!!), I wanted to pass on that I saw a great article in the New York Times from June 15, 2008, called “Summer in the Caribbean.” I am sure you can find it if you Google it. - The threat of hurricanes might not be a great as you would imagine (oh my!!! LOL)
If you cannot find the article, but are interested, just let me know. Then you can report back to us all who are still here working!!

One coping strategy for change, as addressed in my book, is having a change of scenery. Coincidently, ‘Change of Scenery’ is also a recommended strategy for how to be more creative, or have more creative thoughts. Going somewhere else can add a new perspective, a new thought about an issue. You can sit outdoors, you can take a walk, you can take a trip–there are options! ‘Change of Scenery’ could even mean rearranging a room, couldn’t it?
I grew up on the Great Plains, so I took interest in this article. When I was young, I loved the wide open spaces, the blue skies, and yes, we even had buffalo herds in a local preserve in the State Park. I was so pleased to see they are being restored!
I would love to hear your ‘Change of Scenery’ coping strategies in the Community section of this web site.
